Coffee Cake Persimmons

Coffee Cake persimmons (Diospyrus kaki 'Nishimura Wase') are similar to Fuyu in appearance, but ripen earlier and have a deeper orange coloration.

The flesh of the Coffee Cake will turn brown (thus the name) and more flavorful if pollinated, and will remain slightly astringent until soft if not pollinated. The best way to find out is to cut them in half and look for seeds as a sign of pollination.
