Hudson's Golden Gem Apples
Perhaps my favorite eating apple, it was discovered as a wild seedling growing along a fence row at the Hudson Nursery in Tangent, Oregon, in 1931. A large apple, uniquely conical in shape, with a dull yellow-gold russet skin.
The yellow flesh is very crisp, juicy and sugary with a somewhat nutty flavor. Many people compare it to a fine firm pear. It is a delicious apple to eat fresh, or throw into a salad with blue cheese and walnuts.
