For the first time ever, I am offering a small amount of unusual persimmon varieties shipped anywhere in the continental USA.  Each box will contain Saijo and Nishimura wase persimmons (Coffee Cake), packed into separately labeled bags.

Saijo is an astringent variety like Hachiya but with a far more complex and delicious flavor. They are my favorites. The Saijo fruits must be ripened to a pudding-like consistency to remove the astringency. Place them upside down on your kitchen counter until they soften. Alternatively, you can put them in the freezer to remove the astringency and enjoy them as no-prep fruit sorbet.

Nishimura Wase, aka Coffee Cake is a non-astringent variety (like a Fuyu). It can be eaten crunchy like an apple, sliced into salads, or enjoyed with other seasonal fruits such as apples and pears. However, some of the fruits may still be astringent so proceed with caution.. It is a pollination variant non-astringent (PVNA) variety. That means, it produces much better fruit when pollinated, flesh that is slightly brown flecked with tastiness, thus the Coffee Cake name. This is the first year I got good pollination, but not every fruit may be pollinated, so some may still be astringent.

The enclosed fruit will weigh approximately 5 pounds. No substitutions or changes, sorry. Shipping is included in the $60 cost. I will collect all orders during the week and ship on Mondays. Once I have shipped, I will send you a USPS tracking number, so make sure to include a good email address for you with your order.
